Visual Impairment and Deafblind


The Special Education Program for Visual Impairment in Region 2 is crafted to offer technical assistance, training, and support services to districts catering to students aged birth to 22 with visual impairments. We provide assistance in program planning, assessment, and implementation for students with visual impairments. This encompasses regional planning facilitation, aid with the Students with Visual Impairment Registration and Deafblind Child Counts, acquisition of textbooks and APH materials, instructional strategies, materials modifications, and staff development.

The Special Education Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing focuses on professional development and technical assistance for programs catering to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Deafblind Graduate Certificate Grant Initiative

Deafblind Graduate Certificated Grant Initiative

The DeafBlind Graduate Certificate Initiative provides financial assistance to qualified candidates through a Texas Education Agency grant. This grant is designed to cover tuition and fees for the online courses required to obtain the DeafBlind Graduate Certificate.

A child identified as deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or visually impaired, as per the Texas Education Agency (TEA) definition, qualifies for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI). The determination involves a team that includes certified staff from your local independent school district.
