Texas Public Information Act (PIA)
The Texas PIA gives the public the right to request access to government information. The Education Service Center, Region 2 (ESC-2), complies with the Act by providing the following standard procedure for all members of the public to request public information records.
All requests for public information must be made for information already in existence. The ESC-2 is not required to produce new information, generate records, or perform legal searches. Before submitting a request for public information, please visit the websites listed on this page, as other entities may house readily accessible information you are inquiring.
To ensure accuracy and efficiency of filling the request for public information, all requests should contain the following information:
- Full name and contact information of the individual making the request and any organizational affiliation;
- A complete description of the records being requested including date ranges, categories, subject matter, etc.; and
- The preferred format for record delivery (e.g. electronic copy to be emailed, electronic copy to be stored and delivered on a CD or other storage device, hard copy to be viewed on the premises, etc.).
