Hundreds of parents expected to learn more about parenting with love and logic at Parent Involvement Conference.

Education Service Center and Robstown ISD to host conference on Tuesday, February 16, 2010.

 

January 26, 2010 – Corpus Christi, Texas —  Robstown Independent School District (RISD),  the Education Service Center, Region 2 (ESC-2), and South Texas Children’s Home Ministries will come together to sponsor the 25th Annual Parent Involvement Conference on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. The conference, titled “25 Years of Caring, Sharing, and Educating,” will include a general session, “Parenting with Love and Logic,” by Dr. Betsy Geddes. The general session, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., is expected to attract an estimated 600 parents and will focus on the use of humor, hope, and empathy to build the adult/child relationship, emphasize respect and dignity for both children and adults, provide real limits in a loving way, and teach consequences and healthy decision making. Other topics to be addressed at the conference include student responsibilities, teenage pregnancy, and early childhood education.

  Parents, community leaders, businesses, and educators will have the opportunity to attend concurrent informational sessions presented by consultants and specialists from ESC-2.  Entertainment and door prizes will be provided to conference participants. The conference will be held at the Robstown High School in Robstown, Texas.
