Publishing on the Internet
can be easy and free! These websites step you through the
process.
Everyone has a webpage, right? Well,
actually no, but sometimes it feels that way. Perhaps you already
have a URL (Internet address) or maybe you're starting to think
you'd like one. It's possible for you to join the online community
without much fuss or mu$$. Many entities will host your webpage
for free. They utilize a web-based interface so you won't even
need any special software.
There are even websites that will help you
create web-based course materials. You could actually become a
"Cyber-Teacher!"
Some cautions, however:
 | This is a free service. If it starts to
request credit card numbers, back yourself out. |
 | Although these are free, be aware that
some will place advertisements on your webpages. |
 | Read all the fine print to be sure you
understand your responsibilities. |
 | Don't expect too many bells and
whistles. You'll get a simple webpage and some graphics. If you
want something more sophisticatated you'll need to become a
webmaster and host your own webserver. |
 | You will be given a username and
password. Don't trust your memory. Write this information down
and store it in a safe place. |
 | Obtain written permission from a legal
guardian before publishing your students' work. |
